Some medical centres are government funded at a higher level than others, based on their population and the level of fees that the medical centre charges. There are three levels of funding - Interim, Low Cost Access and Very Low Cost Access.
The fees for Interim funded medical centres are in Table 1.
The fees for Low Cost Access funded medical centes are in Table 2.
Very Low Cost Access medical centres have agreed to keep their fees at or below a low-fee threshold. They receive an extra funding allowance from the government for doing this. The fees for Very Low Cost Access medical centres are in Table 3.
The following fee information is for a standard GP consultation. A standard GP consultation is a consultation with a General Practitioner for a standard length of time within normal business hours. It may include any normal tests or examinations carried out as part of that consultation. The table shows the standard consultation fee for patients of different age groups enrolled with one of the Waikato PHO's Medical Centres.
Medical centres may charge extra for:
- accounts not paid on the day of consultation
- longer consultations or additional services provided
- patients who are not enrolled with them (casual patients)
- after hours consultations
- patients who are enrolled but not yet funded through that medical centre
The fees in Table 1 relate to Waikato Primary Health's Interim Funded Medical Centres.
